Beril Gülcan

Born in Istanbul, Turkey, Photographer Beril Gulcan now lives and works in Manhattan, New York. In 2010 she graduated from ICP (International Center of Photography) and from then founded Mica Studios which she ran from 2010 to recent as a photo rental space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn as well as an alternative space to work on her own personal photo and video projects.

 

Her work is focused mainly on portraits and hand-made collages composed of her own photographs, found photographs from vintage magazines and acrylic painting. Inspired to work with people, hear their stories, and capture their purity, emotions and lifestyles, her passion lies connecting with bizarre, yet violently calm, beautiful characters and environments, and expressing such in film and digital print.
